The new kindergarten with 7 units is constructed entirely in wood as an extension to the existing elementary school in Köpmanholmen. With its traditional falu red facade, the existing building is an important part of the cultural heritage in the Köpmanholmen area. To create an understanding of the local cultural environment, the wooden facade of the new extension is painted in bright red and light blue shades to create a visual contrast to the historical context. The building volume creates two separate sheltered playgrounds for children in different age groups.
