As a part of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, South of North hosted Mouthful of Meetings, a seminar inviting contemporary African and Nordic architects to a cross-cultural dialogue on socially engaged architecture. The discussion revolved around questions of African identity in an architectural and a global context, the role of the foreign and local architect and the emerging urbanism and informal architecture in many African cities.
The event “Mouthful of Meetings” is related to the topic of the Nordic Pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. The commissioner National Museum in Norway has given the South of North network the assignment to organize the event. It adds a contemporary layer to the Nordic Pavilion exhibition, “Forms of Freedom. African Independency and Nordic Models”.
